Science journalist Michael Lemonick has been writing about climate change since 1987 and is the lead author of this new book published by the nonprofit research organization, Climate Central. The book details the effects of climate change and greenhouse gasses in ocean acidity, existing ecosystems, disruptions to food supply and rising sea levels. Lemonick, a Harvard graduate, was a senior science writer at Time Magazine for more than 20 years and is now a senior writer for Climate Central, and teaches science journalism at Princeton University. Books will be available for purchase.

It has been 50 years since the publication of Rachel Carson’s Silent Spring, a book that opened the world’s eyes to the problems of chemical pesticides and launched the environmental movement. Fran Collin, Trustee u-w-o Rachel Carson, will talk briefly about Rachel Carson and will introduce the “A Sense of Wonder”, a film, based on the life of Rachel Carson and filmed at her home in Maine. It was written and performed by Kaiulani Lee.

Backyard Stewardship Workshop
